Palace

I would build a palace for you
To enshrine your beauty forever.
Centuries would come and go
And still people would look
And wonder at the love
That brought it into being.
Walls inlaid with precious gems
But none so lovely as your eyes,
Marble pillars of opalescent white
Can never match your milk white skin
Nor can the darkly draped curtains
Compare with your raven tresses.
The fountains in the courtyard
Sparkling so brightly in the sun
Are outshone by your pearl like teeth
And your ever radiant smile.
Perhaps our spirits will watch
As pilgrims walk through the halls
Sensing the love that gave it life;
A love that time cannot blur
Or ages render any the less.
