EMPYREAN VAULT
Winter skies; a feast for the eyes
rich blessings from up above
Though bleak and cold the story is told
of God's great and precious love
Why, when the earth lies fallow do
heavens burst with such bright hue?
At dawn, first light doth pleasure the sight -
painting vibrant sunrises anew.
Brushstrokes begin where terra ends
on an azure canvas so wide
The firmament is on fire now,
flames blazing on sunset's tide
Spewing molten fingers into
Cloud banks of lavender-gray
Chasing daylight into night
and the night watch into day
Night descends in indigo moments
Dawn blossoms, holding sway
Oh, blessed be heaven's glory
reflections of each new day!
