Our Special Swing

Our Special Swing

Passing by the playground, I saw swings today
My thoughts swirled far away
Remembering the swing you made for us
Waiting for our turn making a fuss

A swing in the big, tall, sturdy, oak tree
Made for all three brother, sister, and me
Hands gripping the ropes
We were full of laughter and hope

Swinging freely feeling sure
We felt safe and secure
We wanted to touch the giant green leaves so high
Swinging back and forth feet trying to touch the clear blue sky

So much fun we had
Lovingly thinking of you dad
You made that swing with so much love
We would swing pushing our feet up high above

Our own special swing, we had to admit
There was no other like it
It was a unique brand
Made with your strong hands

Childhood memories may bring a tear
Yet, I feel you always near
In the silence of the breeze
You whisper,"at ease"

You are in every sunrise
In mother nature's creations in disguise
As the evening draws its curtains I'll never forget
You are in every sunset

Of all the memorable childhood things
A favorite to me was our special swing
When birds sing in spring
They tweet endearing memories of our special swing
