I remember those sad days
Working in the Emergency room
Wondering what would come in next
Osan, Korea,year 1958
Twenty years old
A long way from home
My girlfriends were in letters
They bring this kid in
He has a knife in his belly
I am expected to save his life
You do what you have to do
The boy lived after eight operations
And so did I
Next day I was on a flight home
Flash forward to today
The dance moved on for an old man
Twenty years the boy in his seventies
Celebrated fifty years of marriage
Two children five Grand kids
Today Tomorrow Yesterday
And from the shadows of the past
Who would have thought that day
That young Airman would be writing Poetry
Wonder what that boy is doing today
The Shadows of life take such unpredictable turns
