 The Gate (prompt 9) wings2fly2heaven
well, this one is different.
It's a bit haunting, but was really fun to write.
I couldn't find the SPP image they used for gate C,
so I used my own to enhance this free verse.

Written March 16th, 2012

The Gate

Darkness and dampness and all things crawling
Seek refuge and point vantage upon twisted limb
Through eyes now greyer I see the gate
As my weightless imaginings wander ahead

Echoing voices taunt and scratch at my secrets
Of personal accord, held tight within a palm
Let go….set free,
they run straight head of me
For the heaviness of the night, I walk in motion slow

Robed assailants hide beyond the pointy steel
Perhaps to distort and snuff out my light
And leave mere memories fading from the wait
With deliberating steps, I shall enter this gate
