Mom was not big at attending Church

She felt allot of Church member hypocritical
On Easter here would be this woman
Two children dressed in rags
Sitting at the very back of the Church
This woman with eyes blackened by beatings
Had come not for the members but to praise Jesus
Kids would say what are you doing in our church Dandy
Living in the dump with the boarded up windows
That old dump truck out front
Your Mom goes to work on a bus
When Mom first heard Tex Ritters,"Deck of Cards"
Sometimes I would be angry at God and curse
Ask why he made us so poor our dad such a Monster?
Mom would say Jesus was always in our hearts
I sat with Mom when she died praying to Jesus
I have never doubted a minute Jesus was in her heart
Mom's favorite,"Deck of Cards", very emotional for me
