There Was a Time
They come to mind now and again
A better place, your place to spend
Of what was once where traced are smiles
A place of warmth of good compiled
There was but her though puppy love
Became the past but still thought of
Innocence in purest form
Happiness in heart once sworn
You'd never leave this place of peace
Held close so close to say the least
It was and is still felt this day
As if it were just yesterday
The better part that broke no hearts
A place like home, your place a part
Of someone else, a friend you keep
Forever yours, forever keeps
A simple place sincere of things
That held one close, that nearly sings
Contained within where safely kept
Are tears of joy millions seem wept
Complicated then soon came
A state of mind full of things vain
Entered the scene leaving it's mark
Deep are the scars upon heart parked
Yet in the bad that came to be
You rose above still good you see
A place all seek if for just now
A piece of mind today allowed
There was a time, if for the moment
