Without Rhyme Or Reason
Cosseted In Candlelight
I remember all the star filled nights spent high upon the hill
All cosseted in candlelight we ate and drank our fill
Our laughter echoed through the skies the loch so far below
And glittering the moon reflecting incandescent glow
I do recall the balmy breeze, the rustle of the trees
The summer days that turned to night and never failed to please
The company of strangers their conversation free
The centre of attention sometimes difficult to see
The mist would fall about us it swirled around our feet
And music from an old guitar made the memory complete
Oh! How we danced upon that hill if only for a while
The magic of the moment held in reverential guile
In sadder times of missing you I still can find you there
And I wonder if you realise how I loved you,
Still I care.
