Born James Loden in 1929 in Alabama,
Sonny played on sports teams in school.
He served during the Korean war,
where he was used as an entertainer.
On release, he started recording
for Capitol Records in the early 1950s,
and had some Country hits.
He became huge with his 1956 #1 song
"Young Love".
The next big phase of his career started
in 1963 with "The Minute You're Gone".
The late 50s were interesting even tho
further hits were scarce.
Capitol constantly issued singles
and albums, with mixed success.
