My Bonnie LadTo my lovely son Stan known now as James who is 44 years old today, born on 3/4/1968. Have a wonderful day son love always Mum xxxxxxxxxx The year was nineteen sixty-eight And I just twenty-two When I gave birth to a bonnie lad And that my son, was you. You were born so very frail Twelve days we could not touch I saw you through some panes of glass And oh it hurt so much. But you came home my bonnie lad Your eyes a navy blue Later they would turn to brown And steal the heart from you. Your skin was pale and creamy white Hair of silk and dark as night Never crawled, just up and ran And in life did all you can Time has passed but I still see The pearls of your tears When you fell and scraped your knee Way back down the years. Started school when bullies came So you learned how to fight Not many came on back for more Your fists soon put them right. Soon after that you fell in love And offered her the moon Then you realized her ilk You`d fell in love too soon. Later you would suffer pain No lad should have to stand But you held your head up high And a golden hand Gave you another little lad Whom you have raised alone I am proud of you my son My bonnie lad, my own. Now today you`re forty-four Tell me it just can`t be Seems like only yesterday My bonnie lad was three. But I`m proud of all you are And I want you to know You`ll always be my bonnie lad And Mum still loves you so. Have a lovely day today May all your dreams come true This I send with all my heart My greatest wish for you Vote for this poem |
