Shadows of the Cross

When Adam and Eve disobeyed
Sin entered the world that day
It was a shadow of the cross
God’s plan to save the lost

When Cain killed Abel in rage
His heart attitude set the stage
Jesus fully humbled Himself
Shadow of daily dying to self

When God sent the flood waters
Noah and family saved no others
Severity of sin brought destruction
Shadowed the cross final solution

When Abraham willingly obeyed
God’s command Issac to be slayed
By his faith God supplied the ram
Jesus gave His life the great I AM

When God instituted the Passover
Blood on the door He passed over
Sacrificed lamb without blemish
Shadowed the Lamb it is finished

When Lazarus was sick Jesus delayed
By His arrival in four days he had died
Why the long wait to reveal God’s glory
Raising him to life shadowed Easter story

On the cross Jesus fulfilled God’s plan
His blood shed paid all the sins of man
My friend, He is risen the tomb is empty
He is your only hope for today and eternity

As Jesus accepted the faith of the thief
He will do the same by your simple belief
Salvation is not automatic and universal
Free will to choose spiritual death reversal

Have you come to Jesus at the foot of the cross
Placing your faith in Him realizing you are lost
If not, accept His free gift of eternal life today
Be certain Heaven will be your home someday
