PUPPET ON A STRING

We built this stage, made it ours alone.
Seventy one% of our adoring public voted.
Made me their M.L.A, believed in fairytales.

When the time was right, I waltzed off to Louth.
Left you lot on stage, puppets on our string.

Down south in Louth I’ll jerk you lot around
On Stormont hill my puppet dances on D.U.P strings
gnawing at the scraps tossed his way.
I watch your despair as your puppet is crushed into the ground.

After all it was your vote put us here,
Leinster House s a free staters stage.
It fits me like a glove. I’m the master puppeteer,
genesis of modern Sinn Fein.
