THE SUNDAY STUDENT

Dressed in lovely laced attire...
Donning a going-to-meeting look.
She sat beneath the shaded tree
To study from the Holy Book

Knowing she had lots of time
Her mother still had much to do.
The little ones would all need help
To dress up in their finery, too.

Feeling pretty in her bonnet,
She smiled, turned to another page.
She knew she must review the chapter
If she intended to engage

In the Sunday school discussion.
Something she delighted in.
She had memorized the verses...
She was so ready to begin.

That she was a five star pupil
Made her feel a wee bit proud.
But she wasn’t one bit bashful.
She'd volunteered to read out loud.

Countless awards adorned her wall…
Certificates of every kind.
She knew the Bible books by heart…
Recited Psalms from line to line.

She really loved that Book she held…
Had been drawn to it from the start…
From the moment she’d met Jesus
And invited Him into her heart.

Prompt 13-Monet

“Study to show thyself approved of God,
A worker who needs not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15
