When I thought on a poem for Mother's day
This title came to mind almost right away
So giving God the glory I was guided to see
Looking up the word "essence" in the dictionary
Truly it was the perfect title so fitting
I feel led to share in part it's meaning...
ESSENCE-The inward nature of anything underlying
it's manifestations;true substance, the indespensable
conceptual characteristics and relations of anything.
IN ESSENCE-essentially-
OF THE ESSENCE-of the greatest importance
The divine nature of Mothers is unconditional love
From conception love grows for this gift from God
Becoming a Mother is what many women dream of
While growing inside of you your dreams shift to
prayers sent to heaven above
That no matter boy or girl that they'll be born healthy
Upon birth you can't wait to examine from head to feet
Counting fingers and toes and admiring their skin
With that done both prayers and dreams begin again
A Mother wants the very best for her children
She feels their pain especially when their heart is broken
Her words both discipline and comfort when spoken
Her wisdom and advice can be as priceless as a golden token
When my children were young a wise elderly lady once said to me
"When your children are young they'll walk on your feet"
That didn't concern me, it was this next part...
"When your children are grown they will walk on your heart"
That was a pretty profound statement I thought at the time
Doing my best to raise my children it never protected this heart of mine
The truth is... if you're a Mother you'll not avoid this
The next truth is, it is all mended by one hug and a kiss
For the fact of the matter is your heart can't be broken
unless you love alot
And when it comes to a Mother and her children "X"
marks the spot
For the more she loves the more she forgives
Her love can only grow as long as she lives
Like the essence of a flower she has a certain scent
Even her cooking no other can match or invent
The roughest and toughest man knows Mom's their greatest fan
From childhood to adolescent to adult a Mother's love only expands
No greater challenge or reward has ever been
To nurture and raise this precious life given
It has been said children don't come with an owners manual
Indeed we all do it's God's manual called the Holy Bible
A Mother's the most beautiful rose in God's garden picked for you
To give love and to be loved throughout your life too
Even in death a Mother's love and memories never fade
For in our hearts and minds she forever will remain
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS TODAY!
