 'Inspiration In Thought'

'One Way Line'

Sitting here, I feel the need to reveal my thoughts, and express my needs
As another day takes its place within the history of my fate,
They come, and they go as if express in time
Like a runaway train down a one way line.

Is it just me, or does everyone find
Themselves in a rush, through the sands of time
That filters through the hourglass like air through a sieve,
Counting down the remaining days to live?

Life can be as free as birds that travel on well-muscled wings
That propel them through air with the greatest of ease,
Higher, or lower, it matters to them not,
For they go where they damn well please.

I find myself stuck, not able to function
As my breath is removed by a powerful suction,
And try as I might I have lost all control,
While I forge dead ahead with nowhere to go.

~ Do you ever feel like you're a hamster stuck in an wheel
that never stops turning regardless of how fast or slow
you run? Life can be so many different things and cause
so many different feelings which can overwhelm even the
strongest determination. As I thought about this, these
words came to mind, which resulted in this poem ~ R.B.
