On the Other Side of Emerald (prompt 16 wings2fly)
Interpretation of SPP Writing Prompt 16, Landscape 2.
May 10, 2012
“You're out of the woods, you're out of the dark, you're out of the night,
step into the sun, step into the light. Keep straight ahead for the most
glorious place on the face of the earth or the sky. Hold onto your breath,
hold onto your heart, hold onto your hope.
March up to the gate and bid it open”
Beyond the garden city
Afoot a lush bridge green
On the other side of Emerald
Is a place no one has seen
No cheers or fanfare frolic
No carols in rainbowed skies
On the other side of Emerald
Dark magic herein lies
Hazy sadness lights the day
Foggy memories drool in the air
On the other side of Emerald
Resides an Oz of hushed despair
So cast your spells and potions
Peer through panes glazed by time
Recall delusions of grandeur
Rescinded by reason and rhyme
Beyond the jeweled city
Step gently into unknown
After veils of trickery lies truth
There's really no place like home
