God, Guitars, and Sweet Gospel Music

Last night I dreamed of
  an old Country friend.
I’m always so sorry
 Each dream has to end.

He seemed happy and well…
A big smile on his face…
  Told me Heaven was really
  A musical place.

I had to ask about Elvis
O, he knew that I would
He told me that Elvis
Was still singing good

Said Heaven had honored
Him with a gold crown
But he wouldn’t accept it
Just passed it on down

To Jesus, whom he said
Was the only true King
And His praises were all
Presley wanted to sing.

I didn’t inquire but
He said Johnny Cash
Had written a song
For some big Angel bash.

Said Tammy and Dottie
Both sang in a choir
Which Red Foley directed
Dressed in regal attire.

He said all the Hanks
Were on radio...
That Heaven played oldies...
 God ordered it so.

Said Buddy and Billy
Still played in his band...
That an upright bass fiddle
Was still in Jack’s hand.

Said picking and singing
Were going real strong...
That the Father loved music
And sometimes sang along.

What a dream! I awakened
And wished I could be
Right back in the dream
With the unforgotten E.T.
