WAKING UP

WAKING UP

The sun was shinning after raining most of the night
On my way to church this morning
the trees were still without green leaves
Mixed in their grays and browns are shocks of color
Nature is renewing itself

There is the fuchsia of the red bud tree
It is waking up from a long winter's nap
The pale pink blossoms of the apple tree wave in the breeze
The white of the pear and dogwoods - each vying for my attention

The tips of the branches have specks of chartreuse
Baby leaves are beginning to come to life
Tender green shoots are sprouting from the earth

Yellow and white daffodils line the walk way to the houses
Driving by the purple wild clover is lifting its head to the sky
Bluebirds are singing a song of praise
What a painting God is working on with His own hues

We too will awake after our long sleep of death when
Christ our Lord returns to take us home with Him
We will be dressed in splendor fitting for His court
What a great way to begin a Sunday morning
seeing God's creation waking up

-Psalm 122:1-
I was glad when they said unto me,
'Let us go in the house of the Lord.'
