Here I stand
Sometimes you try to do
the right thing and pull rain
out the skies
But there's no life in the grain
and all aspiration dies
If only I could have broken through
the invisible glass
My heart cries, holding out till the last
but this too shall pass
Tomorrow we take heart the sun
will rise again to ease the pain
But the darkness of the night
is coming upon us fast
to stake its claim
But O joy, hope springs of tomorrow
Time seems like an eternal enemy now,
Trying to pin us down in sorrow
But I will look beyond the great mountain
and these words I shall borrow
Better men have lived and died than me
Deliverance is but a light thing with God
Shed these shackles and be free
