Heavy Shoulders
Hope she's in tonight News that I didn't want to hear Now begins the fight
Put your touch upon me Give me what I'm due Don't take away the other half of me What am I supposed to do
I've lived a life of good I've tried my best to be me Look into my eyes Real pain is what you see
I request upon your power I bow before you now Relieve me of the hurt Or at least please tell me how
Don't take someone in their place Just put your thumbs up and not down And place upon my soul a smile Don't tear it out and blind it with a frown
I beg of you to change your mind And push Fate far behind To take so much away from me You know to be unkind
I know my words are futile But to say them I must do But in place of mercy give me An Angel to help me through. © Steve Ellis (IntotheBlue) 2012 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
