Every Now and Then

Brushing ears of corn

I’m the first into this field

No footsteps lain before me

Just me and my joy to wield

Arms outstretched beside me

Running with my heart

The crows are really scared now

And this is just the start

The sun shines down upon me

My feet of lead no more

My laughter resounding

I request my own encore

Butterflies are smiling

Fairies clear a path

Rainbows give direction

A pot of gold I just laugh

I have no need of wonder

There are no tears of doubt

The corn tops brush my hands now

This is what life’s all about

My heaven is the clear blue pool

That greets me at my peak

And as I dive in regardless

I know now I’m not weak.
