“How far back did you start?”
The left rail asked the right.
“I thought we started out together…”
“Yeah, sorry, my mind has taken flight.”
“It was rough getting through
This rocky mountain range…
All those explosions…the dynamite…
Made me feel just a little bit strange”
“Yeah, Lefty, I understand
I lost a few cross ties.”
“It ain’t no fun getting spit upon
When all that doggone gravel flies!!
Don’t know where they order
Their spikes from now-a-days
And I’ve got complaints about the guys
Who work to level right of ways!”
“Yeah, Lefty, but think a bit…
Focus on the positive.
I know we’re laying down our lives
But, tell me, what else could we give?
We’re just a couple hunks
Of steel but we’re real strong.
And, Lefty, this gives me a feeling
That, well, I finally do belong.
We’re doing something good…
Remember the God-Man?
He laid down His life and think
About the years His story ran.
It’s still spoken of in awe…
After all, He’s God, my friend.
I say let us bring on the train!
This conversation’s reached an end!
The train is running Bibles… Lefty, there’s a verse for you! God can put you back together! And you will be as good as new! "
