A Soldier's Plea
Such a commendation that can make many a soldier so please
As that tribute paid to those comrades that are now decease
That is always a probability that is inherent in that profession
As there is that likelihood of not enjoying the growth of their children
But what a dance with death on that field of battle
There is that method of a bullet, an explosion, gas and or a grenade's shrapnel
And if survive be wounded maimed or live as a cripple
Later getting cancer form exposure to a carcinogen or disturbed and that is mental
Out there one is not stratified by any form of qualification
Because of your level of schooling you are all facing the same situation
So if the attack came by air from the sea or even that ground
It is only by that luck that some area the body is not found
Like most things that war may come to end by some peace treaty
So now the end of duty there in now that entry into a different scenery
Now there is that problem of having to make that form of adjustment
This will most certainly need some professional help in this department
So those earlier months it is usual to live on alert ready to dart
Because you will relive that situation, it very hard to depart
So now returning the live a veteran and a civilian
In this medium the person will encounter some type of problem
Take a look at the movie Rambo who had problems integrating
One push and immediately back into that zone he was returning
He confessed a well trained soldier but in this life had great difficulty
In trying to adjust he did not even have that skill to wash a car properly
So on this day make that promise to those who are and the ones who later will be veterans
That there will be continued assessment and help will be there for their integration
This will help them during that process in that transition to that civilian state
And there will be some very helpful tools there to assist them as they integrate.
