Irony in Action

Hang he must and hang he will for Billy
Bob’s is his name and he’s only eighteen.
He shot a man wearing blue.
Now they will hang him high from that
old oak tree down by the slough.

All the waling and all the shouting won’t
save Bill Bob from the hangman’s rope,
not even a rebel’s yell  can give him hope..
The courier arrived too late…the war is over,
but here in Otterville, no one knew.
The war was over on the 24th of May, 1865.
Today is the 25th
Irony in action!
