 Penniluck's legacy

The Voice Of KIrkton Place - Dundee

To my Dad James McGinnis who was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the tender age of 33 and died at the age of 37 on 18/11/1958. His 95th birthday, still a viable age, would be today 5/6/12 Happy Birthday Dad. love always xxxx

What Dad would you say to us if you still had a voice
I`m sorry would be high up there but you didn`t have a choice.
How much it hurt to see your wife so sad and broken hearted
And your children fatherless - you`d wish we`d never parted
And as each of us grew up and sometimes lost our way
You would send to us a guide - for you could only pray.
That with time we would succeed in what we tried to do
And all the dreams you had for us could still somehow come true.
At last you had Mum by your side `though weary old and grey
And now you have four children to help you through your day.
And Dad I still have all my dreams and much life left to live
And June is such a lovely lass and has so much to give
Your son Peter is a man you would be proud to meet
And of course there`s Jimmy - he`s right up your street.
Loads and loads of grandchildren all because of you
So you have went on living, and Dad I tell you true.
Many of those children feel you are by their side
That you are there to help them to love them and to guide.
You would be ninety-five today an age that can be done
Instead you left us all behind when you were very young.
But you gave me words to use to help to ease the pain
Inherited from in your soul you Dad can live again.
Have a happy day up there and give dear Mum my love
I know that you are looking down at us from high above.
Say hello to sister Ann - and lovely Maggie too
Give a hug to Heather `cause I know she is with you
And of course to Gordon your little lad from Skye
You have them all beside you and you will never die
You only went ahead of them to meet them as the came
And with your arms opened wide - you welcomed them all hame.
Miss you Dad and love you still and yes you still can speak
All these words have come from you as I tried hard to seek
Words with which to wish you well and feel in memory
All together one more time - in Kirkton Place - Dundee.
