Love Thy Father
Alone he sits and rocks his way
Into oblivion as dues he's paid
In war he fought before their birth
In life he brought unto this earth
His wife would pass before her time
A young woman children reared nine
All grown up and leaving home
Home empty and him alone
He raised them all showing each love
Today fast lives do not think of
A moment to bestow upon
Acknowledgment before hes gone
A brief encounter if but that
A cup of Joe as he once sat
Patient, lending an ear now deaf
Near blind fragile of him that's left
Left again as if he passed
A memory of sorts and last
Least today one step just shy
Of moving on with no goodbyes
Love on your Father, this Fathers day
For life is brief, too short a stay
