FOR BETTER OR BEST

(In Memory of Ish)

Mature love isn’t founded
On simply a feeling
But on promises, pledges…
On vows ever sealing.

Two people so bonded
They are never apart.
It’s a surrender of souls
To affairs of the heart.

According to Genesis

God’s plan was to please.

In love He presented

His Adam with Eve.

And down through the ages
God granted each wish

In love He presented

Me with my Ish.

Only faith and real trust
Can fathom forever
It’s for better or worse
And nothing will sever

A commitment of care
Symbolized by a ring
When two people share all
Life or death ever bring

My love has gone Home
But his memory’s here
Buried deep in my heart
To forever hold near

Our love climbed the scale
From better to best
And it hurt me to lay
My dear darling to rest

But just past the stars
Where rainbows don’t end
Is waiting for me
My true love …my best friend.
