Better Things in Mind

Better Things in Mind     June 19, 2012

In the absence of war things are better but in Ireland we want change
Our struggle for the rights of man and feelings for our people
As the airplanes taxi down the runway, we kiss our kids goodbye
With dreams and hopes of a new tomorrow their parents still ask why
The big land waits with open arms for the children of the Gael
The factory walls where graffiti sprawls has the message no jobs here
The tar sands project where the oil runs free has employment for you and me
New york with the Irish pubs is glamorous at night
When daylight comes it's very different after party night
The unemployed at home still look for work with better things in mind
The struggle for the rights of man, its collection time again
Drop a penny in the can is a common sight to see
We're collecting for another cause helping you and me
The government that caused the problem without conscience rides the storm
The Irish nation must pay more to solve the mistakes we've made
The final hug, we say goodbye, a tear beneath an Irish sky
Our children of Ireland have gone, it's going to happen again
On the big plane, we say goodbye, will we see our kids again
As the airplanes taxi down the runway, we kiss our kids goodbye
With dreams of a new tomorrow their parents still ask why
