Nightmares

My hearts beats fast
Even faster as it seems,
When fear creeps in
I don't know what it means.

Is this some kind of ordeal
To awake on holy hours of the night;
Turning sides, feeling cold,
O God, hold me tight.

Creepy creatures haunt me,
I'm so scared terribly;
Flying, crawling near me,
Gasping for breath, I flee.

I awoke, at the top of my voice,
"Stop!"
If only I have a choice,
"enough is enough."

Thank God, they're not real
All are but nightmares that steal
My happy thoughts and happy smiles,
I need dreams, dreams that are worthwhile.

As the night turns deep
May I rest joyfully in a sleep
With beautiful dreams to keep,
With beautiful dreams to keep.
