A Thought In The Dark

sigh lent night
changed
my in-sights
into brief puffs of hope
failing like smoke
and dissipating
into my fog.
night you are a bad dog
unfriendly, baring teeth or
like being doggedly dragged
down by a leash.
an unkind night's torn away my
soft tenderer niche
and left me homeless.
sigh lent night
crowding words
altering
my many minds
weary eye knows
no dreams soothing
nor sleep,
nothing finds
nothing
to keep.
just two breaths less a weep.
dark-cloaking
two tiny eye holes of fear
back-burrowing upwards too near
then marching on into my throat.
not even a choke
can clear
the clawing the cloying.
un-invited nightly I hear
that which begins with a sigh
and a soul-sucking thought
a preponderance of pander-ance
of what do I ought and
of oh why am I, why am I here?
the world is beige
and I am too full of
color.
the world is black
and I cannot see.
the world is sanguine red
and I feel too much.
the world is not me.
