 once upon a time

johnmcguckin78gmailcomheathergibsonjohnnyduncangeishashadowsontheheart
Another dreary room in another beat up weary town
Gonna catch a plane, a train, a bus.
Not thinking, just going, no place in mind.
It’ll be another room, in another  weary  town,
I’m a  nowhere guy in a nothing room.
Don’t bother looking around, same old beat up town.

Closed up storefronts, graffiti sprayed,
No bread winners in this or any other town.
All hope has been closed down.
Any light at the end of this tunnel?
It’s snaking all around  beat up minds
In a land of one time golden towns.

Hands stuffed in pockets, no money, not even a dime.
Gotta start walking, Gods knows where I’ll go.
Hopefully I'll hitch a ride, never know what I’ll find.

I'll just keep moving right along
Makes it seem like I  have a destination in my mind.
I'm kidding myself as I stroll down the street in another beat up town.
Can’t catch a bus, can’t catch a train.
Heck, sure as hell won’t be jumping no plane.
Seems to me no one understands that the dreams of yesterday are gone.
Only beat up towns lie strewn all across this weary land..
