A Watchman
It came to pass in seven days,
As the Lord showed different ways;
He spoke out and sent His decree,
Appointing a watchman of me.
Is it not therefore very grand.
He has me watchman of this land;
But I heard what He had to say,
Warning me to trust and obey.
When I tell someone they will die,
They will just laugh and ask why;
Since they are holding so much doubt,
Of my warning as they speak out.
They can change ways to save their lives,
Before Lord Jesus Christ arrives;
Then they will die because of sin,
That has corrupted them within.
That is why I do not want to speak,
Since earthly pleasures what they seek;
So I rather keep my mouth shut,
Than trying to deal with their smut.
But God holds me responsible,
Just one dies unacceptable;
Each one the Lord wants me to save,
Instead of the eternal grave.
So I warn those who go astray,
About the wrath on their pathway;
They will lay stinking in the grave,
While my own life I will save.
