The Road

I scribbled this poem on the first day of February this year. I got so upset that i wasn't able to finish it. Then, i got preoccupied with other things and writing other poems. but two days ago, i happened to browse my notes and i noticed this as unfinished. With the grace of God, its finally here.

The road is set before me,
So I carry my load and let things be;
I leap past the hurdles and tread the stones
While the sunlit skies strengthen up my bones.

I rush headlong as in a race,
But lo, I find myself inside a maze;
I try moving slowly
Then, I realize seeing things clearly.

Along the way, I meet people of different kinds,
Some offer a hand, some care less and some don't mind;
But through all the strifes,
I learn as a student of life…the twists and the turns, the spices and the spurns.

I continue on with the jewel of faith
Lifting up to the heaven my humble state;
I buckle up with the belt of hope
Holding on as I glide the slope.

For as long as I believe in Jesus, my Captain,
I know my journey will never be in vain.
