Professing Humility
My heart is not conceited,
And is never filled with pride;
Each one that I have greeted,
Are looking for me to guide.
For I treat them as brothers,
Being equals from the start;
Not looking down on others,
Rather through love from the heart.
I am not involved in things,
As too difficult for me;
Maybe a complication brings,
Some kind of heartache to see.
I keep still, to calm my soul,
With wisdom to remain cool;
Letting God be in control,
Not wanting to be a fool.
My soul is content as seen,
Like a child in the arms;
Of its mother who did wean,
Feeling safe from all alarms.
My heart is never haughty,
Nor mine eyes being lofty;
Neither considered snotty,
But sometimes as a softy.
Because my soul deep within,
Is filled with faith full of hope;
In the Lord away from sin,
Giving strength able to cope.
