She watched closely while the curtains
Billowed in the wind.
She so loved the smell of rain...
In the fresh air blowing in.
She’d read somewhere where some child said
Rain held the scent of God.
She’d found this non offensive
Nor did she find it odd.
After all, was not the Rose of Sharon
Related to His scent?
Were not myrrh, aloes, cassia?
Perfumes of the Orient?
Did not the saved children of God
Hold the sweet savour of Christ?
Did not rain and wind pound Calvary
Upon the Savior’s sacrifice?
Also, did not the Holy Spirit
Arrive as the sound of wind?
Sights and sounds and scents of God
Should be pleasures to rescind.
She recalled the missionary
Sent to her native land…
The sacred scent of Holy Books
He'd placed within her hand.
Seemed every story was perfumed
To saturate her soul
She smiled as curtains blew about…
She knew Christ was in control.
