ALTERNATIVE BELFAST

What have we got here? Another daft architectural idea!

We’ll built a lot of units, call them alternative.

Of course the natives of Belfast won’t be consulted.

They’ll just have to accept it’s for the best
That we are able and ready to offer them an alternative city.

It’s been done before and failed. Don’t mention that.

Tell the future residents they’ll be near their work.

Of course there isn’t any work. Don’t mention that.

An alternative utopian society where everyone who buys into it
Will end up needing psychiatry. Don’t mention that.

An alternative city of no hope. Wha? Don’t mention that.

Just tell the people it will all be fine.
Of course fine means , insecure, neurotic and emotional.
The residents will find burglaries proliferate. Don’t mention that.

They will end up rejecting our alternative plan. We can’t have that.
We’ll have to tell the people and we will mention that,
It’s the only way forward-an alternative Belfast.
