 Sweet
A world of taste covered by sugars;
Artificial, granulated, high fructose corn syrup.
A universe sweetened beyond recognition;
Flavors relegated to an overwhelmed oblivion.
Freedom walking, taste buds quickened;
Sugar put away from my mouth.
Alive are the unique sensualities;
Warm sensations dance upon my tongue.
Fuzzy withdrawals leaves me somewhat dizzy;
My focus isn't anywhere close to crystal clear.
Yet the symphony I hear calling me
Out from the sweet jungles of sugar.
Dance, oh mouth, with the fruit of this world;
Vegetables raw textures parade with delight.
Whole grains fulfill their destiny within me;
Fresh clean water quenches my thirst.
Open my soul to the flavors of God's creation;
Enjoy the embrace of this world's garden.
Suckle from the breasts of Mother Nature;
Renewed, refreshed, restored… balance is retained.
The sugar was hiding this world from me;
Soda pop drowned my thirst for purity.
My hunger subverted lulled me to sleep;
Freedom now rings… freedom's call from sweet.
