 once upon a time

Here I am in Coney island again
I've found an old log floating in the sea
May as wll play on it, got nothing else to do.
Gotta keep this log from rolling over, should be able to
It’s floating upon the waters of the Irish Sea.

Finished school this summer, fifteen now, big boy.
On my last school holiday, whoa!
Gotta keep this log from rolling over.

Reckon it’s the last two months holidays I’ll ever have.
Wonder if I can paddle round to Ardglass harbour.
Be hard to keep this log from rolling over.
Gotta try. I’m a big boy now, starting work in September.

Don’t know how I’ll do.
All I can do is try and stay on the log
Keep it from rolling over. There’s  Killough Village across the bay.
my last holiday in Coney  Island,
Playing on the log, haven't forgotten it.

Never made it to Ardglass on the log that summer
Found it hard to keep it from roiling over.
Looking back at the kid after fifty one summers
All I can say is I’m still paddling and that log kept rolling over.
