Did you know - that there are angels -

standing by you in this place ?

Like silent sentinals - in the shadows -

Waiting patiently - to hear their Master's voice .

Waiting - expectant -for the LORD's command -

In answer to our prayers .

Faithful and obedient - for whatever may occur .

They are ready for any action -

To help in times of need -

Sometimes - in a fearsome battle -

Or - with a comforting - helpful hand .

In Scripture - we are told - they hold us up -

Lest we dash our foot against a stone -

And assure us - when we're frightened -

We are never on our own .

And - when we ask our heavenly FATHER -

To bring us safely throught he night -

HE gives HIS angels charge of us - -

To keep us in their sight .

Yes - around us in the unseen world -

These glorious Beings stand -

Listening for their orders - to go or stay -

At the LORD's command .

Once - to a lowly Jewish girl -

The angel Gabrel came -

To tell her she would bear GOD's SON -

Emmanuel - by name .

And to shepherds - the hosts of heaven were sent -

To proclaim HIS royal birth -

To sing praises in the highest -

And peace to men on earth .

And- to the SAVIOUR - in HIS darkest hour -

When HIS heart was filled with dread -

GOD sent an angel to Gethsemane -

to strengthen HIM - for all that lay ahead.

So - let us trust our great Redeemer -

Who - in his loving way

Sends forth HIS mighty angels - to help us -

When - in faith - we pray .

And - unbeknown to us -

When - we could be in danger - weak or poor -

Let's not turn away the stranger - knocking at the door -

As this might be the answer - GOD - has sent -

to help us in our cares -

And by doing so - we may be entertaining angels -

Completely unawares.

Now - let me share with you these final words -

And teach you what to say -

Just as a very special lady - taught me how to pray .

LORD ...keep us through the night

Secure from all our fears .

May angels guard us - while we sleep -

'Til morning light appears .... Amen .
