The Winner
Imaging having that chance at being an Olympian
That moment to take part in something of historic proportion
This situation requires that grit, determination lots of mental power
To be that one who will eventually cross the line as the winner
There you are basking in the moment the glory of the aura
Heart beating so fast as though you were getting bout of tachycardia
And as you decelerate as the time has come to slow down
In the interim there will be lots of those media personnel around
That joy of taking the lap draped in the flag of your country
The crowd roars but somehow you can hear those of your nationality
Not forgetting to acknowledge the applause and shake hands with the spectators
See this too as a relationship between those fans and you the entertainer
Then the mind gets transposed to a place back in the native land
As you wish they were there those persons who had that hand
In nurturing as well as supporting even scolding this went a long way
In driving home those values that has brought you to this day
Exercise good sportsmanship accepting and offering congratulations to the others
For that maturity which comes from those who when defeated are graceful losers
Because it was their fierce and very forceful competitive nature
That was a factor that made you certainly had to dig a bit deeper
