 Sanguinity

Down the pathway of all the ages,
Past the missing and unwritten pages,
Onward into the world of yet to be,
There is you. And there is me.

**

Where the argument still rages
As to the wisest of all the sages,
There the consummate thespian stages
Life's play for you, life's play for me.

**

Workmen toil, turn valves and gauges,
Collect their monetary wages
To purchase a product that assuages
Their listless lives of anonymity.

**

Under the vastness of the stars,
Beneath the arms of the great god Mars,
Men wage their constant countless wars,
Then proudly show their battle scars
And speak of the way things ought to be.
They ought to be for you and me.

**

We walk the twisted halls of history,
Still searching for life's mystery.
And then, all hushed and whispery
We speak of what is yet to be,
Yet to be for you and me…
