I Met a Guy Today

I met a guy today           August 10, 2012

I'm sitting here in Donegal without the bright sunlight
It's late and my light is fading with Irelands futures bright
I met a guy today who was running for his freedom
He had nothing but love for our country this rebel said to me
Why cant the country of his birth respect the people's struggle?
Do the leaders of our nation know our history book?
Why should a son of Ireland who fought for Irelands cause?
Be judged as a criminal by the British system laws
I love my country of Ireland and those who accepted the cause
I want to take this freedom fighter to meet my family dear
He's part of you and me; he wants our country free
He's a hero in my eyes; He fights for you and me
Think about our leaders and ask the question "Why"
Why do our patriots of today face depression, I ask why?
Does mother Ireland give you the right to let your children die?
Why can't the country of his birth respect the peoples struggle?
Do the leaders of our nation know our history book?
