A Profession of Faith

The Word existed from the start,
And was straight from God in His heart;
For life was from the beginning,
Suppose to be free from sinning.

We had heard it and also seen,
Just how our lives should have been;
We observed and able to touch,
Of the love that God has so much.

This life was already revealed,
Not a secret that was still sealed;
For we had seen and testified,
The truth was told and not denied.

So I declare eternal life,
With living to be free from strife;
Revealed to us by the Father,
As a gift through our Brother.

This is the life we saw and heard,
As is reported in the Word;
And linking the Father and Son,
In a kinship that has begun.

This is the message that we heard,
Reported by Christ of the Word;
God is light without any dark,
But darkness still where we embark.

So we lie and not being true,
Of everything we tell you;
And then the truth is not within,
We are still merely full of sin.

But if we live within the light,
The same in the light God just might;
The blood of Christ cleanses within,
No longer do a stench of sin.

So if we confess our sins,
Surely His forgiveness begins;
Cleanses from all unrighteousness,
Filling us with His blessedness.
