GLADIOLI

Damp warm night, some comforting feeling
Deep inside calls me into the garden. walking
there the first flower I encounter is the gladioli.

Standing sentinel proud it’s yellow and red spikes
guarding it’s neighbors, it lets me brush  the
raindrops, caressing the soft petals i'm enchanted.

Gently rubbing the rain between thumb and finger
I’m humbled by whatever or whoever called inside of me
to witness such a splendid guard of natures minions.
Gladiators, gladioli stand proud, its spikes, forever alert.
