In Pursuit of Happiness
Born out of wedlock she was no less
To chase her dreams for her heart pressed
To seek one thing that costs nothing
Become of this if just something
Her mother passed too soon to know
Her life became fast lane to grow
As world revolved unkind to her
Taking what claimed in her that stirred
A passion for the smaller things
Simple in nature new song to sing
Hold to Truth who makes the way
Become now one with acts his play
She fell beyond her circumstance
Ignored by all, not given chance
Yet in turmoil she would become
What had to be daughter to Son
For years she swam in bottle deep
Spirits numbed into deep sleep
A place of hiding, shelter hers
Peace of mind of things disturbed
Life became of days not lived
But one would come to change and give
A love unlike she felt before
A love constant she once ignored
Here her chase would come to end
Pursuit of things now came to spend
What was all hers since time began
From arms outstretched from CHRIST she ran
In Pursuit of Happiness, look no further
