CHEERFUL

okay outside it’s wet, gloomy, miserable even, that’s
how it is all this summer, but the garden is cheerful
vibrant, though damp and bedraggled, it thrives.
sitting here looking at the garden, it says be cheerful.

You have me, and a home, good health, food on the table
be cheerful, same as my garden you’re not a raggedy man
Looking over my garden it tellss me to look at my life, vibrant.

I have no reason to be cheerless; the flowers live and give pleasure
the fact of life is, that I’m a lucky guy so be cheerful
give thanks to whomever you conceive god to be, that today
I’ll smile, laugh, guffaw, in short I will be cheerful
