 We don't see raindrops anymore....

We don't see raindrops anymore....

The ground is cracked like a parquet floor
All the flowers are dying outside my door
Helplessly we wait for what's in store

The clouds don't bring us showers anymore....

I look at everyone and receive a blank stare
It's as if none of them have strength to care
On the horizon, no clouds are gathered there

We no longer count the hours anymore....

The dust keeps blowing in from everywhere
At least it softens the sun's piercing glare
We could hire a rainmaker, but should we dare

I've heard he has no powers anymore....

I suppose we had our heads in the clouds
To think any rains would be allowed
Fields lie fallow, no need to be plowed

We don't live in ivory towers anymore....
