'Marmalade Ginger'

Marmalade Ginger, with eyes of pale jade
You captured my heart on that long ago day,
Your coat smooth as satin, hair soft as silk
Gentle voice purring while lapping your milk.

One feline of many, yet you never were shy
And along with my heart you captured my eye,
You came to me openly, you never held back
As you gracefully settled within my warm lap.

Your patience it seems is good with the others
For they follow you about as though you're their mother,
And for those unaware or simply not in the know
They would have no reason to believe it's not so.

You play with your mates hide and seek by the hour
And if something jumps out you never do cower,
Instead you remain staunch, continuing your teachings
And the benefits received are well worth the reaping.

But regardless of all that I've written above
Or the reason I decided to write it,
It takes nothing away, or deters from the glory
Of Marmalade Ginger, the heroine of this story.

~ Everyone has someone dear to them, be it human friend, or animal.
In this respect I am no different. My inspiration for this light-hearted
poem comes from my affinity to a marmalade textured, ginger-hued feline by
the name of Madelyn, whom I have known for many, many years. She is not only
delightful, but is truly everything I wrote in this poem and aside from my own
cat, Tipper, whom I dearly love, this whimsical, delightful ginger-doll is my
very favorite.~ R.B.
