A Flash Back

Here I am looking from my elevation into the bay
This sight still touch me sweetly still in certain way
Those majestic coconut trees still decorate the shore line
How graceful their branches sway in the breeze in perfect time

How wonderful it is to see the variety of birds descending on the sand
As they take a break en route from the migratory flight from another land
Then how laughable to see those basking crab quickly rush to safety
Certainly not wanting to become a meal for the very hungry

Then my vision was shifted by the sound of those little children
Jumping around in the water playing and having some fun
Further on under the shade of a large rock it was good to see
A very shapely young lady enhancing the scenery in her bikini

What a transformation it is from my youthful day
But it was very well appreciated by many all the way
Proper roads, bathrooms, lifeguards, houses and restaurants too
And there were other things there for people to see and do

There were still remnants that still brought some fond memories
Because they were still there that wonderful grove of casuarinas
There such a strong attraction that seems to draw me into them
Then instantly that sprit of nostalgia quickly crept in

Like a happy child is jumped and rolled across that brown spread
Mentally and physically retracing those paths my feet once tread
There still carved on a tree trunk the date and still quite plain
Is where my love and I then carved the initials of our names?

Beneath another that depression for sure was still there
Believe me I spent many ah hour there my lesion to prepare
Studying there from my days at high school onwards to university
So those trees and their environs would be always so special to me

That place seems like it was a sort of a family tradition
Because my father, uncle and older brothers took the same position
Perhaps one day my sons and or daughters will not break the continuity
So that they too may get that same nostalgic feeling when this place they in later year see.
