 Elsie`s Poetry

2nd SEPTEMBER

2nd SEPTEMBER

Well Dad the years may keep on rolling by
But I still feel the loss and I still cry,
Your sayings keep popping into my head
They live on even though you are dead.

You died on this date some 15 years ago
On this date I was christened also,
There`s no doubt a difference in the years
But this date always reduces me to tears.

I became an orphan the day you died
You left me and crossed the great divide,
You joined Mum and left me on my own
I missed you both so much I felt so alone.

You and I are bound by this noted date
Mine a special date yours the one I hate,
A celebration and a loss rolled into one
For I`m left here alone and you are gone.
